Overview
Cytron Maker Line Following Sensor Module is a beginner-friendly line sensor designed for line follower robots, school projects, and small AGV applications. It uses a 5 x IR sensor array to detect track position and works with both 3.3V and 5V systems, making it easy to use with popular controllers such as Arduino and Raspberry Pi.
The module provides 5 independent digital outputs for direct sensor state reading, plus 1 analog output that represents line position for smoother and more accurate control. This analog output is especially useful in line following robots that use PID control, where higher position resolution can improve steering response.
Setup is simplified with built-in calibration and no need to trim individual potentiometers. Hold the calibration button for 2 seconds, sweep the sensor across the line, and press again to save the settings. Calibration data is stored in EEPROM, so it remains saved after power off. The sensor supports both light and dark line selection, with a recommended line width of 13 mm to 30 mm and sensing height of 4 mm to 40 mm under the stated test condition.
