Overview
The Adafruit ESP32-S3 TFT Feather (Reverse TFT, w.FL) is a compact, all-in-one Wi-Fi development board designed for panel-mounted and user-interface-driven projects. It’s based on the powerful ESP32-S3 dual-core processor and flips the usual Feather layout by placing the 1.14″ IPS TFT display on the back, making it ideal for enclosures where the screen needs to face outward while the electronics stay hidden.
At its core is a 240 MHz dual-core ESP32-S3 with native USB, allowing the board to act as a keyboard, mouse, MIDI device, or USB drive no USB-to-serial chip required. The onboard module includes 4 MB Flash, 2 MB PSRAM, and 512 KB SRAM, making it an excellent choice for CircuitPython, graphics-heavy applications, and projects that need large memory buffers.
The 240×135 color IPS TFT (ST7789) delivers bright, wide-angle visuals and connects over SPI, with a dedicated backlight pin for PWM brightness control. Three built-in tactile buttons (D0, D1, D2) sit on the front, giving you instant input options for menus, controls, or navigation, perfect for UI prototypes and handheld devices.
Connectivity and power features are equally strong. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth LE are supported via an external w.FL antenna connector (antenna not included), while power can be supplied over USB-C or a Li-Po battery, with onboard charging and a MAX17048 fuel gauge for accurate battery monitoring. For low-power designs, the Feather includes switchable power rails for the TFT and STEMMA QT connector, plus controllable NeoPixel power allowing deep-sleep current draw as low as 40–50 µA.
